URL for BI & Spreadsheets: Power BI

Modified on Thu, 25 Apr 2024 at 02:51 PM

Introduction

Power BI is a business analytics service by Microsoft that enables users to visualize and share insights from their data. It allows organizations to connect to various data sources, create interactive reports and dashboards, and make data-driven decisions. Importing your data from Gigasheet to Power BI allows for more visualization capabilities for your data.

How to get there

Step 1: In Power BI Utilize the "Web" Data Connector, launch Power BI Desktop.

a. Navigate to the Home tab and click Get Data.

b. Select Web from the options.

Step 2. Paste the URL pointing directly to the CSV file into the URL field and click OK.

Step 3. Navigate to the CSV Data

a. In the Navigator window, locate the CSV table containing your data.

b. Select it and click Load or Transform Data.

Step 4. Shape and Transform Data. If needed, utilize Power Query Editor to clean, shape, and transform the data before loading it into the model.

Step 5. Publish and Refresh (If Using Power BI Service) Set up a scheduled refresh to ensure data stays up-to-date.

Things to Consider

File Size: Power BI has a 1 GB limit for imported files.

File Location: The URL you provide must match the link provided by Gigasheet’s URL for BI & Spreadsheets dialog. Other URLs won’t work.

Data Refresh: Gigasheet automatically refreshes the link for continuous updates, but you may have to refresh data in Power BI.

Additional Tips

You can test the URL in a private browser window to verify its accessibility.

If you're encountering issues, consider downloading the CSV locally and importing it from your computer to Power BI to test compatibility.
