Introduction
Zipping files is a useful way to reduce their storage size and facilitate transfer to other computers by compressing their contents. In both Windows and MacOS, zipped files and folders can be managed just like uncompressed ones. Zipping files to reduce their size makes upload transfer times significantly faster.
In Windows
To compress a file or folder, find it and select "Send to" from the menu that appears when you press and hold or right-click on it. Then choose "Compressed (zipped) folder" to create a new zipped folder with the same name in the same location. You can rename it by selecting "Rename" from the menu that appears when you press and hold or right-click on the folder.
In MacOS
To compress a file or folder, you can control-click it or tap it with two fingers, then select "Compress" from the shortcut menu. If you compress a single item, the resulting compressed file will have the same name as the original item with a .zip extension. If you compress multiple items at once, the compressed file will be named Archive.zip.
Of Note
Gigasheet does not support zips of zips. The uploaded Zipped file cannot itself contain any compressed archives inside of it.
Once your file is Zipped, return to the Gigasheet to upload the file. It will be unzipped in Gigasheet.
